What makes PLC's Comprehensive Exam different from other Executive Exams?
The Princeton Longevity Center Comprehensive Exam is one of the most thorough and effective exams you can find. This type of exam is usually available only at a very small number of the most prestigious academic centers around the country. But while those centers' primary mission is treating diseases, the Princeton Longevity Center is exclusively devoted to preventive medicine. No other preventive medicine center in the region offers such advanced technology combined with the state of the art in the science of prevention.
Most Executive Exams focus on early detection of disease. The Princeton Longevity Center Comprehensive Exam goes beyond early detection to the root causes of your future health problems. A typical Executive Exam program may be able to tell you if you have already developed a disease. What is the schedule for a typical PLC Comprehensive Exam?
Most Comprehensive Exams take about 6-7 hours, depending on what electives or options are included in your exam. Your day starts with drawing your blood tests followed by your Heart and CT Scans (and Virtual Colonoscopy, if that is included in your exam). We offer a light breakfast (juice, muffins, fruit salad, oatmeal, yogurt are available) once these are completed.
The remainder of the morning includes meeting with your physician to review your medical history in detail and a thorough physical exam. A treadmill test will evaluate your heart function and help to measure your aerobic capacity. The exam also includes a resting electrocardiogram, pulmonary function tests, bone densitometry, body composition analysis, audiometry and visual acuity screening.
After your testing is completed you will enjoy a healthy and delicious lunch at Tre Piani Restaurant.
After lunch you will meet again with your physician to review all of your test results and wellness plan for staying healthy. You will also meet with the Nutritionist (registered dietitian) to review the results of your food diary analysis and to help you with guide you to the optimal nutritional plan based on your overall medical assessment. If your exam includes the Fitness Assessment, you will also meet with an Exercise Physiologist to create an individualized plan for improving your fitness.

When do I get my results?
In general, all the results from the standard components of your exam will be available when you meet with your physician in the afternoon. At Princeton Longevity Center we feel strongly that it is very important for you to have all your results in hand at the end of your day with us. You will leave your exam feeling recharged and enthusiastic about making changes for a healthier lifestyle. Your best shot at making those changes is being able to get started on them that day. Other Executive Exam programs send your results to you weeks later when the likelihood that you will act on those results is much smaller.

How much time will I have with the physician?
All of our Board-Certified Physicians are scheduled for a maximum of three patients each day. That means that our physicians can take the time needed to carefully review your medical history, perform a thorough physical exam and then make sure your questions are answered when you meet in the afternoon to review your results. Getting personal time with each of our medical professionals is one of the hallmarks of a Princeton Longevity Center Comprehensive Exam that sets us apart from other Executive Exam programs.

Is a Follow-Up Program available?
All our medical professionals including your physician, dietitian, exercise physiologists and nurses are available by phone or email to answer any questions you may have about your exam results or implementing your wellness plan.

I already have an annual physical with my Primary Physician. Isn't that enough?
Your Primary Care Physician does an excellent job of treating you when you are sick. But it is simply not possible for a typical physician's office to incorporate all the technology or provide you with the amount of time and attention we offer in our Comprehensive Exams. Our exams go beyond the annual physical to find the early warning signs of future problems. Then we provide you with the detailed advice and tools you need to prevent or delay those problems.

Will my Primary Physician get a copy of my exam results?
The Princeton Longevity Center does not provide on-going primary care. We are a preventive medicine center. We do not take the place of your Primary Care Physician. We ask that all patients designate a physician as a Primary Care Physician and, in addition to the copy of your results given to you at the completion of your exam, we are happy to provide your physician with a copy of all test results and recommendations. You should discuss your tests with your physician to help you implement your wellness plan throughout the year.
Your test results may result in recommendations for follow-up testing or further evaluation of abnormal findings. You are responsible for following up with your Primary Care Physician regarding these recommendations and for any further testing recommended in your results that we are unable to provide at our facility.

I am worried about finding a problem. Won't the exam make me nervous?
The most common outcome of our Comprehensive Exam is the Peace of Mind that comes from learning that there is nothing seriously wrong. Most people leave our exams feeling reassured and relieved.
The earlier we find a potential problem, the easier it is to treat or prevent. Avoiding your exam will not stop the disease. Knowing the simple steps you can to take to help insure that your future years are as healthy and enjoyable as possible will make a big difference in the quality of the rest of your life.
